i like rainy days. i like red nail polish. i like cold nights. i like red hair. i like vanilla perfume. i like looking at negatives. i like letters in the mail. i like writing notes in class. i like saving them. i like finding them in the pocket of jeans i haven’t worn in a year. i like listening to records while lying prostrate on the floor. i like valentines day photo spreads in magazines. i like holiday traditions. i like frilly socks with bows on them. i like drawings of unicorns all over binders. i like teenage movies from the eighty’s. i like old clothing patterns with the drawings of nineteen-seventy’s girls. i like the smell of old books. i like the smell of new books. i like spending my day at barnes and nobles or the record store or the thrift store. i like crunchy leaves under my toes. i like skipping. i like sleeping upsidedown. i like dresses with collars. i like winter peacoats with plaid lining. i like rainboots that go woosh when you jump over puddles. i like the shelve of my bookcase devoted to my kid books. i like making chocolate chip cookies for boys. i like planning my outfits with certain people in mind. i like zooey deschanel and joseph gordin levitt together. i like photo albums. i like peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches on square bread with the crusts cut off. i like foggy mornings. i like heart shaped lockets. i like bicycles with baskets and ribbons on the handlebars. i like the sound of typewriting. i like the smell of warm donuts on sunday mornings. i like the feel of costume satin. i like seeing little kids playing hide and seek. i like when they invite me to play. i like the boxes of crayola crayons with sixty four inside. i like to hum when i’m sixty four in my head. i like sitting next to that one boy every other wednesday. i like the tap tap of rain hitting my window when i’m about to go to sleep.
